ART MATTERS
The Art Matters Project is a social campaign and magazine publication promoting art history education through the exploration of various artists, art movements, and artistic themes. These are destined for children (and can be enjoyed by families as well), in particular those from low income / underserved areas and schools in NYC.
These magazines, at the intersection of art and education, woul be distributed at schools and would introduce a younger audience to several sometimes difficult but nevertheless important aspects of contemporary culture and history through the lens of art.The goal would be to highlight the value of these different artworks in both their historical and artistic contexts and celebrate how they represent and impact changes in our society in a way that is interactive, accessible and open-minded. These magazines would include curated photographs and artworks fitting the different periods and movements, information and resources that are appropriate to the young audience as well as interactive games and activities to encourage reflection and critical thinking in ways only art can.
